About the Recipe

When the temperature drops and the world outside is blanketed in silver frost, there is only one true remedy for the chill: a mug of bliss. Imagine peeling off your cold-weather layers and sinking into a cozy armchair beside a crackling fire. Now, cup your hands around a steaming mug of peppermint hot cocoa. It’s more than just a drink; it's an experience. The rich, deep warmth of the melted chocolate instantly soothes you, while the vibrant, cool zing of peppermint cuts through the richness, creating a dazzling, festive sensation that warms you from your fingertips to your very soul. This winter, don't just endure the cold—embrace it with this decadent, comforting ritual.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups Whole Milk

  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch

  • 1/2 cup Powdered Sugar

  • 5 oz. Dark Chocolate Chips

  • 4 tbsp Dutch Process Cocoa Powder

  • 1 tsp Vanilla Paste

  • 1/4 tsp Peppermint Extract (the original recipe was 1/2 a tsp...adjust to your taste!)

The Recipe!

Step 1: Preparation Work

Take the cornstarch and 2 tbsp of milk and whisk them together in a small container. Set this aside for later

Step 2: Incorporate!

Pour the rest of the milk into a pot and place on the stove over low-to-medium heat.

After the milk has warmed up for about a minute pour in the powdered sugar, cocoa powder, dark chocolate chips, vanilla paste, and peppermint extract into the pot. Whisk it all together and ensure you stir frequently until it starts steaming.

Step 3: Thicken the Cocoa!

Pour the milk and cornstarch into the pot with the rest of the ingredients. This will help thicken up the cocoa and give you that nice feeling in your stomach that helps you feel satisfied!

Step 4: Mix It Up!

Make sure everything is well dissolved and continue to mix for a few minutes. About 5.

Step 5: Maximize Enjoyment

Pour it into your favorite mugs. Top with marshmallows, whipped cream and sprinkles, or whatever makes your feel that cozy warm feeling on a winter day.
